Twin Willows Integrative Veterinary Practice
is a mobile practice serving companion and performance animals throughout Northern California. Founded by Dr. Molly McElrath, the practice provides integrative veterinary care that blends the diagnostic rigor of modern Western medicine with the therapeutic tools of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM).
Care is delivered in the patient’s home, barn, or familiar environment whenever possible, which allows for a low-stress experience and a more complete understanding of how each animal moves, lives, and performs day to day.
Twin Willows works closely with primary veterinarians to support patients through advanced integrative therapies. Routine wellness care—including vaccines, surgery, and bloodwork—remains with the primary DVM, while Dr. Molly’s integrative services complement and enhance ongoing treatment.
About Dr. Molly McElrath, DVM
Dr. Molly takes a thoughtful approach to care. Each visit begins with a nose-to-tail examination and a detailed medical history, followed by integrative treatment modalities which are selected based on the individual patient’s needs, comfort level, and goals.
She is especially focused on ensuring that patients and their people feel heard, supported, and never rushed. Treatment plans are collaborative and adaptive, recognizing that meaningful, lasting improvement—particularly for chronic conditions—often requires time and ongoing management rather than a single visit.
What Is Integrative Veterinary Medicine?
Integrative veterinary medicine combines evidence-based Western diagnostics with Eastern treatment modalities such as acupuncture, herbal medicine, manual therapies, and nutrition. These approaches are used together—not in opposition—to support recovery, improve function, and manage chronic disease.
This is not a quick-fix model of care. Integrative medicine is most effective when used as part of a long-term strategy that evolves with the patient.
What New Clients Can Expect
Before The Appointment:
- Intake and release forms completed prior to the visit
- Medical records from the primary veterinarian should be provided at least 24 hours before the appointment
- Pets are clean, groomed, and in a calm environment
- Medications, supplements, and diets are available for review
First Evaluations:
- A full assessment is performed regardless of the initial reason for the visit
- Dogs and cats: approximately 2 hours
- Horses: approximately 2–3 hours
- Treatments are guided by patient comfort and what is clinically indicated.
